Wed 23 Apr, 05:45 PM

Macclesfield striker Gareth Evans has paid tribute to Jack Lester as he prepares to do battle with the Chesterfield forward this weekend. The Spireites visit Moss Rose on Saturday to face a Macclesfield side who lie just four points above the League Two relegation zone with two matches remaining.

Victory would see The Silkmen safe but Evans has acknowledged the threat posed by Lester, 32, who has scored 26 goals this season.

He said: "Chesterfield have missed out on a play-off spot but in Jack Lester they have a quality striker, someone who we need to be on guard against.

"He has shown this year that age isn't really a barrier as he has been up there at the top of the scoring tables all season.

"Young lads like me can learn of lot from Jack and hopefully I will be still be playing when I am 32."
