Gomes fires warning to PSV

Wed 23 Apr, 02:15 PM

Tottenham target Heurelho Gomes has reiterated his promise that he will quit PSV Eindhoven if the club's managing director stays at the club.Gomes claims Jan Reker has broken a series of promises after persuading him to sign a new contract last December.

The Brazilian, who has been linked with a move to Spurs, told Voetbal International: "After I signed that new contract, nothing has changed.

"With the promises he convinced me to sign the new contract, but he makes nothing of all those promises."

Gomes added: "The club promised me a father figure as coach, under whom the youngsters could develop perfectly.

"Well, that hasn't come true at all. When they go on like this they will lose a few key players. That is all the fault of Reker, who talks without thinking.

"The future of PSV depends on the youngsters, but the club has no idea to handle them."

Gomes was clear in his assessment of the situation.

"It's simple: Reker goes or I do. I can't co-operate in this way anymore.

"I don't like lies. For me a word is more important than a signature. I am done with it. I don't have confidence anymore in the club as long as it's led by Reker.

"He didn't break his word to me one or two times, but rather three or four times. Reker isn't a man of his word. We can't possibly work together."

The 27-year-old is adamant, however, that he still wants to be at the Philips Stadion next season.

"If I wanted a transfer, I would never have signed the new contract in December," he said.

"I don't have to force a transfer through an interview. When I signed in December, I wanted to stay with PSV for five years. But as things stand now, I can't imagine stay here much longer."

"I would love to stay with PSV but not together with Jan Reker."
