Holland: More pressure on Cherries

Wed 23 Apr, 12:15 PM

Crewe first-team coach Steve Holland has insisted there is "greater pressure" on Bournemouth ahead of Saturday's crunch clash. The League One strugglers go head-to-head at Dean Court on Saturday in the penultimate game of the season with the Cherries, who were docked 10 points for entering administration, needing a victory to stand any chance of beating the drop.

Kevin Bond's side have won their last five games to move within four points of safety but with just two games left they are running out of matches. And Holland, whose Alex side are five points clear of the relegation places, insists the south-coast club need the three points far more than they do.

He told the club's official website: "With everyone writing Bournemouth off they may have adopted a 'nothing to lose' attitude and have been playing with less pressure. Nobody expected them to find this type of form at the end of the season and credit to them because they have rallied and given themselves a chance.

"They have to win now and with that brings a different type of pressure. It is amazing what a difference it can make when there is expectation on you to deliver.

"It is possible that they can avoid relegation and that is something they have to handle because although there is pressure on us, there is a greater pressure on them."
