Grimsby Town striker Gary Jones is recovering after undergoing what he hopes is successful ankle surgery earlier this week. The 32-year-old went under the knife on Monday to try and ease a problem around the joint in his foot that has been plaguing him throughout the final few games of the season.
Jones is expected to be back training within the next two weeks, and told the Grimsby Telegraph: "It was a straightforward operation and the consultant says it has been a success.
"I'm on crutches now but I should be able to put some weight on it in four or five days time, so hopefully I should be back on my feet in no time."
