West Ham defender George McCartney is keen to end the season on a high by securing a top-half finish in the Premier League. The Hammers, who only stayed up on the last day of last season, have a five-point gap over nearest rivals Spurs and Newcastle and McCartney - who played his 50th consecutive game in the win over Derby on Saturday - hopes that will prove enough.
He told the club's official website: "I will be happy when the season is over - it has been a tough season but it has been pleasing to play so many games.
"Overall, I am happy with how things have gone this season. The last few weeks the results have been disappointing but we just need the supporters to get behind us for the last three games and hopefully we can stay in 10th place.
"We have opened up a five-point gap and hopefully things will stay that way."
