Hibernian midfielder Merouane Zemmama has been ruled out for the rest of the season after breaking his left foot in training earlier this week. The Moroccan sustained a metatarsal injury and will miss the last four games of Hibernian's SPL campaign.
Hibernian are currently fifth but remain in the hunt for a third-place finish, and the UEFA Cup place which that brings.
Mixu Paatelainen was dismayed to lose his 24-year-old playmaker for the crucial final weeks.
"It's a big blow because Merouane has been playing so well but unfortunately these things happen," Paatelainen told the Edinburgh Evening News.
"There was no collision or anything like that, Merouane simply turned in training and his foot felt sore."
