WASHINGTON (AFP) - Joffrey Lupul scored a power-play goal at 6:06 of overtime to lift Philadelphia to a 3-2 win over Washington in game seven of their opening round series Tuesday.

Scottie Upshall and Sami Kapanen tallied in regulation for Philadelphia, which will take on the top-seeded Montreal Canadiens in the conference semi-finals.

Martin Biron made 39 saves for the Flyers, who went two-for-six with the man advantage.

Rookie Nicklas Backstrom and superstar Alex Ovechkin scored for the Capitals, who were attempting to become the 21st team to overcome a three-games-to-one deficit in a best-of-seven playoff series.

In another game seven showdown Tuesday, Jeremy Roenick scored a pair of goals and set up two others as the second-seeded San Jose Sharks erupted for four tallies in the second en route to a 5-3 win over Calgary.

Joe Thornton, Joe Pavelski and Devin Setoguchi also netted goals for the Sharks, who advanced to face the Dallas Stars in the next round.
