Maher considering Gills switch

Fri 23 May, 04:00 PM

Kevin Maher has admitted a permanent move to Gillingham is "definitely an option" but is in no rush to make any decision regarding his future.Gills boss Mark Stimson is set to open talks with the experienced midfielder next week following his release by Southend after a decade at Roots Hall.

The 31-year-old had a brief loan spell at Priestfield at the end of the season and is not ruling out the possibility of a swift return to the club.

"Gillingham is definitely an option," Maher told Kent Online. "I've got a lot of respect for the manager and enjoy working with him."

"I know that one or two clubs are interested in me but there is nothing definite and I'm just waiting to see what offers do come in.

"It's a busy time of year and after being at a club for 10 years it's quite strange. I'm going to take my time."
