Millers have bright future - Mills

Fri 23 May, 05:15 PM

Defender Pablo Mills pledged his future to Rotherham United because he feels that better times lie ahead for the Millmoor club. The 23-year-old signed a new two-year contract on Wednesday after spending much of last season in talks over a new deal.

Rotherham entered administration for the second time in as many years in March, and were on the brink of going out of business until local businessman Tony Stewart's offer to buy the club was accepted by administrator Jeremy Bleazard.

Mills admitted the club's financial woes played a part in him stalling contract negotiations, but is predicting a brighter future for the Millers.

"I didn't want to rush anything until I knew which direction the club was going in," Mills told The Star. "There had been all the difficulties this year so I didn't want to commit myself until I knew what was happening.

"Now, I am happy with the way things are going and confident that there is a brighter future ahead. The gaffer (Mark Robins) has high hopes we can move forward and he was one of the reasons I signed."
