Ridsdale awaits hectic period

Fri 23 May, 04:00 PM

Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale admits the club are biding their time in the transfer market but expect to start doing business next month.Despite their run to the FA Cup final the Bluebirds still find themselves in financial trouble. A summary judgment ruled debts of £24million dating back to a previous regime would not have to be repaid immediately.

However, the case is due to go to a full trial this summer and should they lose, the threat of administration would loom large, and Ridsdale concedes City have to tread carefully with wages.

"We don't have any bids on the table with clubs, but we do have enquiries with clubs and agents about players we are interested in," Ridsdale told the Western Mail.

"At this time of year, people have gone off on holiday. The busiest time will be June.

"Not many of us want to start paying new players to go and sit on the beach. You try to pay them from when they come back from their holidays to start pre-season training, which will be right at the end of June."
