India, shocked by the ITF's decision not to suspend Australia for forfeiting their Davis Cup tie on security grounds, said it would raise the issue with world tennis's governing body.
Australia was fined $10,000 (£6,294) on Friday for forfeiting this month's zonal tie in Chennai but the ITF's Davis Cup Committee decided against banning the 28-times champions from the 2010 competition or relegating them from Asia/Oceania Zone Group I.
"AITA is disappointed with the decision taken and will take it up at an appropriate level in the ITF," the All India Tennis Association's executive director Ranbhir Chauhan stated.
The Davis Cup Committee's decision was not unanimous but it gave the AITA no details about its deliberations, he said.
The tennis ties between the two nations deteriorated when it became clear Australia was unlikely to send a team.
Security for sports teams in the subcontinent has been questioned following the ambush of the Sri Lanka cricket team's bus in Lahore, Pakistan, in March.
The ambush followed militant attacks in Mumbai in November that killed 166 people and raised serious questions about the overall security in the region.
However, the ITF carried out a security inspection and decided the tie would stay in Chennai.

i'm with you barney, this is a warrented punishment, there is no way any foreign sports people should play in india at the moment, the ITF should have seen sense and moved the tie in the first place.

good for aus. tell it as it is. they could not guarantee personal baggage let alone life and limb. They couldnt even hold their own cricket in their own country with an army and navy as big as most. they are a shower.
