Barca anger stays with Hiddink

Chelsea's interim coach Guus Hiddink has turned his back on TV work at the Champions League final next week and claimed UEFA are "happy" their European showpiece is not another all-English affair.

Hiddink admits he is still feeling the "anger and injustice" of Chelsea's controversial semi-final exit at the hands of Barcelona, who face holders Manchester United in Rome on Wednesday night.

Hiddink, taking questions from fans on Chelsea TV last night, rejected a conspiracy theory aimed at preventing a repeat of last season's final between the Blues and United.

"It is difficult to talk about conspiracy if you have no proof," said Hiddink. "I am rather human as well and I think UEFA, they will not say it, were very happy there was not an all-England final for the second consecutive time.

"First of all we should have scored more goals in the home game but besides that I feel the anger and the injustice."

  2. Well i have to say that the Ref was very bad! But it­ was our own fault that we did not beat Barcelona! We­ had so many chances, but goals that you don't make,­ are goals that they make on you!

    So we lost, and­ that's it. But in the future...maybe next season, i­ hope that FIFA implements Video technology to be uses,­ thus helping with all these controversies!

  10. Platini had a chance to pull the final from 'stab­ city' Rome a place notorious for its fans trying to­ start trouble with the English. Platini has made­ constant references to Heysel in the build up to the­ game which I find disconcerting. Could it be possible­ that Platini is hoping to pre-empt another disaster so­ that he has an excuse to ban English teams for another­ 5 years? Of course even if the Italians - the nation­ with the biggest football hooligan problem in Europe -­ are at the root of any problems, it will be the English­ that are punished as usual. Perhaps Platini, as­ punishment, will permit only the top two English teams­ to qualify for Europe conveniently booting out­ Chelsea.

  11. Im a Chelsea fan and naturally i was really p.issed off­ with the game, ref and UEFA but if i was a Man U fan id­ be worried. Platini has already said he expects the­ english fans to start trouble in Rome so that just goes­ to show how much he hates us, not a mention that Barca­ fans and even the crowed in Rome could start trouble,­ he must be expecting something that will p.iss off the­ Man U fans. Im a proper fan and a patriot to my country­ so i will be backing Man U for the win, i wish you all­ the best lads your going to need it. Also Chelsea­ should be taking UEFA to the european courts for this­ outrage.
