Bennett wants Bees stay

Released Reading defender Alan Bennett will be happy to join Brentford if he can agree terms with the League Two champions.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at Griffin Park and has been offered a permanent deal by manager Andy Scott following his departure from the Madjeski Stadium.

But he has reportedly been offered a similar deal by an unnamed Irish side and he is hoping to resolve his future sooner rather than later.

"If things can be agreed then I would be happy to stay," he told the Ealing Gazette. "It could come down to figures. We haven`t even talked terms yet. That will be down to my agent.

"We`ve just had a review of the season and it was all positive. Things will be sorted soon.

"I don`t want negotiations dragging on into pre-season."
