Newcastle boss Alan Shearer is facing yet another injury crisis as he prepares for Sunday's crunch trip to Aston Villa.
The club's only right-back, Habib Beye (hamstring), is out while their only left-back, Jose Enrique (hamstring), has only just returned to full training.
Skipper Michael Owen (groin) will undergo a late fitness test and Obafemi Martins is being nursed through his own long-standing groin problem, although Alan Smith (thigh) is fit.
Central defender Sebastien Bassong is suspended after losing an appeal against his red card against Fulham last weekend, and he joins the banned Joey Barton on the sidelines.

Back in January, the squad was paper thin. Ashley, however, was still trying to recoup his losses by selling two of our better players, instead of recruiting players with quality to get us out of trouble. And now everybody's wondering why we're in trouble. Well done Mr Ashley. you really are a class act my son. 46 thousand season ticket holders, Anfield holds less folk, and you can't even put a team out that will keep us in the top flight. Too many " big time charlie's who are, too old, too frail, too well paid and no longer motivated, because they all lack integrity. Just like Ashley, and just like the main man before him, Freddy Shepherd, and of course, Hall jnr.
Hey. Who knows. we might just do it and stay up. But whatever the outcome - shame on you all
