Defender Chris Slater is prepared to let his football do the talking as he bids to land a new deal at Port Vale. The 24-year-old, who joined the club from non-league Chasetown in January, has endured a stuttering time trying to seal a place in Lee Sinnott's starting XI.
However, he is refusing to dwell on the fact he has one year left on his current deal and has set his sights on helping the League Two outfit gain promotion.
Slater told The Sentinel: "I can't focus too much on that, I've just got to concentrate on playing football. I've got to enjoy it because when you're enjoying your football that's when you're playing at your best.
"I'm going to get my head down and work hard, and when my contract is up I'll see where I am.
"I'm a 100% player and I want to help the club push for promotion next season."
