England captain Hugo Ellis admitted the side were running on empty going into their 38-3 defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the IRB Junior World Championship final.
The Junior All Blacks ran in four sparkling tries to lift the title - two of them in the final 10 minutes after Leeds flanker Calum Clark was sent off for butting an opponent.
Crusaders' Super 14 champion Kade Poki touched down in the first half, with Jackson Willison, Andre Taylor and Ryan Crotty all scoring tries.
Saracens' Alex Goode kicked a penalty for Six Nations champions England, who were playing their third game against a Southern Hemisphere side in eight days.
"New Zealand are a fantastic side and were the better team on the day, but credit to our guys for what they've achieved this season," said Wasps number eight Ellis.
"We've had two great victories in a week to get here but we suffered a bit today and there were some heavy legs out from the guys who worked so hard against South Africa and Australia."
