Championship - Bolton's Robinson bid stalls

Eurosport - Tue, 23 Jun 15:09:00 2009

Bolton's bid to sign defender Paul Robinson from West Brom appears to have stalled as the two clubs are well apart in their valuation of the player.

Wanderers are believed to have made a £500,000 bid for the 30-year-old left-back but the Baggies want double that.

However, Bolton manager Gary Megson is unlikely to go much above his original offer for a player who has just 12 months remaining on his contract.

Megson, a former Baggies boss whose acrimonious relationship with West Brom chief executive Jeremy Peace does not help negotiations, is already weighing up other options.

He is also looking to strengthen other areas and is keen on Swansea's 27-year-old midfielder Ferrie Bodde.

The Dutchman has only recently recovered from a knee injury but that has not put Megson off making his move.

Bodde has also been linked with Wigan, where Swans former manager Roberto Martinez is looking to make changes to the squad he inherited from Steve Bruce.

  2. I will send an emal to Cech to ask if he would stay if he was to be played in the first team on a regular basis should that limited talent eventually leave us(Robinson) but when i last spoke to him he did say to me that he wanted to leave with Celtic rumoured to be tabling a bid but i doubt he will want to go there now a certain manager has been installed. I do not understand why he was overlooked so much even though he did tell me what reasons Mowbray said to him why Robinson always got the nod ahead of him which in my opinion was not a very convincing one!!

  5. I'll drive the backstabbing mole faced @#$% there myself.

I once attended a function at the Albion and was talking to the commercial director about some of the players. He said the following: -

Russel Hoult:- Stuck up his own ar$e

Darren Moore: - Genuine, lovely bloke

Paul Robinson:- Coward, only tackles when he KNOWS he wont lose.

If Paul ever read this let me tell you something. I was the bloke in the Newcastle game who you had a stand up row with as you left the pitch, I called you a bottler and said your heart wasn't in it and that i wished you had pi$$ed off to sunderland last year. Seems I was right.
