Javier Mascherano has said he was proud to learn of interest in him from Barcelona and Real Madrid, but is happy at Liverpool.
The midfielder said transfer talk linking him to Spain's 'big two' was a form of recognition, with both clubs prepared to offer around £25 million for the Argentina captain.
"It's really flattering. For me it means great recognition because we are talking about big clubs," said Mascherano, who still has three years left on his contract at Anfield.
"I feel comfortable at Liverpool, but it's always good to know that teams like Barca and Madrid are interested in you. I feel very grateful."
Mascherano arrived at Anfield in January 2007 after half a season with West Ham, and the Merseyside club have since completed his signing from third-party management group MSI.

you are bunch of idiots who would not like to quit is current job for a better paying job... the pay is totally irrelevant and relative...if he wants to leave let him leave this is not a marriage..............tools
look its obviously just a ploy to increase his wages at the club.and rightly so,why should such an instrumental and important part of the way liverpool play be paid as little as a third of the top earners.he will not leave or initiate a transfer away he just wants parity.do not read into the rubbish you read in the papers wait untill the start of the season and see if he is still at liverpool or elsewhere before cursing one of our best assets.
DON't LEAVE US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He should be (in crazy football world) on about £65-70,000 a week as he is the new Makelele although dare i say slightly better. It will be devastating for Pool to lose either him or Alonso although if they are going to go perhaps sooner rather tehn later will allow us time to plan spendings.
stuartxland, You are dumb wouldnt be a Manure fan by any chance we just bought an Egland International for 18 mill, and sold none. we are not like the 2 teams down the lancs 1 United feeder club to Madrid and City buy up any average player for silly money.
Im pretty sure that all he has said is that 'he is proud to be linked with these clubs as it shows he is a good player'
He has not said that he wants to go and yet bagain the tabloids are twisting things
CarolineHowe2006 and co please colleagues Masch did not say he wants to go.He stated that if other gr8 teams can see his worth then that is good for him.And i is good for the club too to see other gr8 teams acknowledging our lads.SO PLEASE SURELY HIS AGENT CAUSED ALL THE TREMOR.WHO KNOWS MAYBE HE WILL CAUTION HIS AGENT
Another abandons the sinking ship....get away before the reality of the crumbling club falls around your ears mate....!
if he wants to go then let him.no point in holding on to him if his hart is not in it.very un greatful when we got him he could not get a game for west ham
he's a cheeky bucked tooth rat , he was saved from obscurity at westham and is now the captain of Argentina all through signing for Liverpool! Want to go running off already? He's a good player and the best at what he does, but if we can get silly money sell him cause his heads else where
to YOSEF, whats the point of that stupid post? U got nothing better 2 do?
He just wanted a pay rise from livepool, he's only on 30k a week, i say only as thats 2 years wages 4 me after tax, but he's paid the least of the liverpool regulars, thats y he's saying that, probably deserves more than that though so fair play.
He's been supported and loved through his two years at Liverpool, but he can f**k off. I'm sick of players running their mouths off and disrespecting their current clubs
As an LFC fan just cash him in now Rafa - his heart is elsewhere as is his greed.
These Argentinians seem like proper loyal folk don't they?
argentinians hate english
Harvinder have you seen any reports saying he wants to leave? NO
What are you on about?
World class midfielder! Big part of our team
Good but not the greatest player to wear an Anfield shirt.
LFC Rule
rafa get rid of him now if he dont want to play for the reds there are so top players who would love to play for the reds go n used the money on david sliva and david villa least there would like play for the reds with pride
YNWA PERIOD!
I SAID IT.I SAID THAT IT WAS THEIR)ALONSO/MASCHY) AGENTS THAT ARE CAUSING ALL THESE CONFUSION.OUR LADS ARE LOYALFUL,DEDICATED AND WE ALL HAVE RESPECT FOR THEM ALL.THANK YOU MASCHY AND YOUR COLLEAGUES FOR MAKING US PROUD.SOME SAY WE HAVE NOT YET BUY BUT I TOLD THEM THAT THERE IS NO NEED SOMEHOW
