West Ham completed the signing of forward Luis Jimenez from Internazionale on a season-long loan, with a view to a possible permanent transfer.
The Hammers moved quickly to fend off interest from other teams for the player, who will officially join on July 1 provided he passes a medical.
Jimenez told the club's official website: "I am very happy, very excited and very determined to show what I can do."
The 25-year-old Chilean, nicknamed El Mago (The Wizard) for his playmaking abilities, continued: "I am a player who loves to play football, to be in a team that keeps the ball, to create opportunities and also score goals.
"I can't promise anything but I am going to do everything possible to do a good job for the club.
"I know West Ham are a fantastic club who have had a lot of great players. I had options to join other clubs but I watched West Ham's last game of the season and I liked it a lot.
"(Manager) Gianfranco Zola was one of the things that drew me to West Ham - I can identify with the type of football he wants to play."

Really pleased seen him on TV looks a decent player would like to see a couple of decent full backs and Kovacs signed thought he did alright for us
On Season Loan is a wise move for Zola. I don't know whether Jimenez is good enough for Premiership, but it's a good test for him. It's much better than using lump sum of money to gamble on a player such as Nsereko's case. Hope Nsereko can give a great impact on West Ham this year.
On loan for a season, hmmm, then off to man utd or chelsea then
#8 - Kovac can leave, he was terrible, and Jimmy wants a team that can keep the ball? are you SURE he watched West Ham play? We need a few more signings, what happened to the mancini rumour? we will struggle for European place, with the top 4, then Man C, i just dont feel we are the "best of the rest" yet, we need more depth to our squad and a few more players..
Maybe Jose wanted rid of the lad bcos he wants to steal his moniker ? Afterall The Petulant One does feel he's the Wizard Of Words ( or just plain WOW 4 short). It has been known that he wanders round the dressing room in a pointy hat waving a stick with a star on the end of it. I also hear SAF is changing his name to Gandalf and AW has been watching the Hogwarts youth team recently.
hehehehehe best bacon , you lot are losers and always will be , from a gooner
nice pic eurosport... couldn't find anything more suggestive? jiminy christmas... and with the midfield at inter jose didnt have to use him...
I do think any London Derby will be great this year with WHU and FFC on the ups...should prove a real challenge for 'Arry, Arsene, and Carlos
fantastic signining although only on-loan deal..
blindin signing for the club although on loan for a season-no doubt in my mind he will help improve the squad. what is important the lad can score goals and will be a real handfull for the premierships so called top defenders.
-am very happy-but what i along with westham supporters around the country really want
is the signing of kovac, last season he was instramental in his performances for the hammers-so mr zola get off your arris and make sure the kid signs on the dotted line!!
Livin in Italy i watched him play and i can assure you he's a very good player.Zola made a good deal. From a liverpool fan
Jim Jimini Jim Jimini Jim Jim Jaroo, we have the Wizard in Claret and Blue :D COYI !!!
i bet none of these premiershit fans have even seen him play. they get excited, but then when reality hits....they come down on the players as much as they hyped him up.
good player, but jose hardly ever used him this season.
here we go Hammers fans let the good times roll
Great signing to help the Hammers move into a European position!
