McParland revolution taking shape

Notts County manager Ian McParland is aiming to create "serious competition" for places at Meadow Lane next season.

The Scot wants to make wholesale changes to the Magpies' squad, bringing in as many as 10 new players this summer.

He told the club's official website: "I want serious competition in every position next season and everyone will have to fit in, be clued in and very capable of playing in our first team.

"Right now, I'd like to make another five signings and then see where we are at and what else I need. The loan market is something we will monitor as well, but right now I would take another five and then review things from there.

"At the start of the summer I wanted 10 new players and I don't think the squad will look far away from that by the time we kick-off against Bradford on August 8.

"There is a long way to go until that stage so there is still plenty of time to get deals done."
