Pinnacle want right of appeal

Tue 23 Jun, 05:15 PM

The group bidding to take control of Southampton have asked the Football League to reconsider their decision not to allow them to appeal the club's 10-point deduction.

A takeover by Pinnacle Property Consultants, which is backed by Matt Le Tissier, has been delayed because they are unhappy with League chiefs insisting they forego the right to challenge the punishment.

The deduction came in the wake of the club's parent company, Southampton Leisure Holdings plc, going into administration. The League's board held an emergency meeting and were unanimous in their decision to enforce the ruling.

Pinnacle managing director Tony Lynam said in a statement: "We hold a different view to the Football League and maintain the belief that we should be granted the opportunity to appeal their decision. This is not an issue over the 10-point deduction, more the fact that in meeting every condition within the Football League's rules, we should be allowed the right to appeal, should we wish to do so.

"The overriding question that arrives from their conclusion is that if they are so adamant that they were correct in their initial decision to deduct the club 10 points, then why refuse us the opportunity to appeal this?

"We hope to reach an agreeable conclusion to the remaining issues that we now have to overcome as soon as possible, and aim to deliver these to the Football League on Tuesday evening."

  2. the problem is not blackmailing its the crooks who use parent companys to feed off the riches of football , and thats what saints did and got caught out as like liverpool , but liverpool as big assets on there side a top club making money still hence saints was not making the money and got caught its life the FL should not allow these so called parent companies using the club ,,,,,,,the law should change and say no more parent companies allowed and the football team just run on its own ,,again ten points is not a lot an appeal is not worth it ,, the pinnacle group is just not really interested in saints cos if they were it would have signed up two weeks ago and screw an appeal which would again cost saints money to do????? so MLT i think you our giving false hopes to saints fans ,,,,

  4. I do hope that Pinnacale will get on with it and sign regardless of the FA, as there other unknowns in the wings waiting to get their greedy hands on the football club and I do not know where we will be then as we are then in the unknown. However I am 100% behind the blackmail issue, unfortunately the others have already said that they will sign their rights away.

We have to get this issue of the club sorted out and very soon as the new season is comming closer the fan's don't know where they are and worst of all both the players and staff do not know who is going to butter their next slice of bread. The longer this goes on with the result of the continious delay's will seriously be damaging to the club as a whole in the long term.

Principles could cost the club dear.

  6. I know the feeling of being cheated, we have felt that for the past 8 years, but we just got to accept it and get Matt in charge asap.
We cannot afford to lose MLT over this, as Gary said, three wins and a draw and its eliminated, we may not get automatic first, but we will surly get 2nd or play offs. Let the fans once the consortium are in place sue the FL, as at the end of the day, its the fans that suffer. I will stand up and be counted - We just got to get this take over completed and sooner rather than later.

  7. very true im am shocked that the fL refused this appeal !! just say the fL said yes ok you have the right to appeal the 10pts and the pinnacle did and lost the appeal least they had a chance and can move forward , as i read somewhere yesterday -10 thats 3 wins 1 draw and im sure we can do that in the first 4-5 games also does the FL want to see our club slip away from its history in this sport ?? it dont matter who you support but the fact is southampton football club has always been there 27 years in top flight football with 2 great wins over man utd 6-3 3-1 and f.a cup final and runners up and europe and yes our teams drop down the ladder now so to speak but surely if the fL carry on BLACKMAILING CLUBS then is there a organision who can step in and tell the fL there bang out of order and get them to see it from football clubs point of view , everyone has the right to appeal against something in there life except saints i hope the pinnacle buy saints and take the -10pts and still win the league and ram that cup up there arse

  8. The football league want the new owners to waive there RIGHT to appeal the point decision, if they don't they will not get a licence. That's called BLACKMAIL !! SFC have not said they will appeal, all they wanted was the right to appeal should they wish to. The right all clubs should have !
Why did the FL take 3 weeks and after pinicals exclusitivity period to spring this on the potential new buyers ?
    BLACKMAIL plain and simple.
