Former Gretna and Newcastle midfielder Nicky Deverdics has completed his free transfer move to League Two outfit Barnet.The former Newcastle trainee played for Gretna in the Scottish Premier League last season but was released when the club went into administration in March.

The 20-year-old Geordie made a big impact during a brief appearance as a substitute in the 4-1 win at Harlow on Tuesday and will be given another opportunity to impress in a friendly at Northwood on Wednesday night.

Manager Paul Fairclough will take a full squad to Northwood with first-teamers Joe Devera and Ashley Carew, both of whom missed the Harlow game with hamstring problems, hoping to figure.
