Saints boss seeks Viafara summit

Wed 23 Jul, 12:45 PM

Southampton coach Jan Poortvliet will hold emergency talks with Jhon Viafara in an attempt to resolve the midfielder's future. The Colombia international reported back late to pre-season and was substituted less than half-an-hour into a 3-2 win at Weymouth on Tuesday night.

Poortvliet believes the 29-year-old is missing his family and the pair will meet on Wednesday to discuss the player's future.

"I will be sitting down with Jhon because things like that you cannot let go," he told the club's official website.

"I want to know the problems, because then we can make a decision.

"I saw his warm-up and I was not happy with it. I took him off because I think that he made some big mistakes, he gave the penalty away and he lacked concentration.

"I spoke to Jhon last Saturday and I think the big problem with him is that he is missing his family and he is having a sad time here."
