Spireites set for Flinders talks

Wed 23 Jul, 02:45 PM

Chesterfield boss Lee Richardson is set to hold further talks with Crystal Palace about the possibility of signing goalkeeper Scott Flinders. The 22-year-old played for the Spireites during Tuesday's 3-0 friendly defeat to Hull at Saltergate.

Richardson is looking to sign a goalkeeper on loan with 17-year-old Dan Whatsize the only recognised player in the position at the club since Barry Roche joined Morecambe.

"It was good to have a look at him and for him to have a game and I will be getting in contact with Palace in the next couple of days to see where we go from here," said Richardson.

"It is still in the balance really. He is well paid down at Crystal Palace and there are going to be financial implications that we can't ignore and which will be a factor.

"He is a little bit rusty as he hasn't played that much football, I think February was the last time he played so that could be a factor too."
