Mour Tops Ebor Weights

Wed 23 Jul, 01:09 PM

Gary Moore's new inmate Mourilyan has been handed top-weight for the totesport Ebor at York on August 20.

The valuable handicap, won by Purple Moon last season, has attracted its usual bumper entry and the overseas import currently leads the way on 9st 13lb.

The four-year-old was in training with John Oxx last season and performed with credit in Dubai where he was bought by current owner Ramzan Kadyrov.

He finished eighth on his only start for trainer Herman Brown in the Singapore Cup, some four and a half lengths behind stablemate Jay Peg.

"He's been kept fit and healthy out in Dubai but whether he can defy top weight or not I don't know," said Moore.

"He's owned by the same people who bought him off John Oxx and they are keen to run him.

"To get a horse of that calibre is great and whether he is good enough off that mark or whether it's the right trip, we'll see."

Luca Cumani's Old Newton Cup winner Mad Rush (9st 11lb), Jane Chapple-Hyam's Yellowstone (9st 10lb) and Dermot Weld's Profound Beauty (9st 8lb) are the next on the list.

Sugar Ray (9st 5lb), Young Mick (9st 1lb), Buccellati (9st), Al Eile (8st 13lb) and Milne Graden (8st 12lb) are other interesting contenders.
