Claire Wright has been named as Team GB's sole trampolinist for the Beijing Olympics.

Despite having 44 World and European medals and trophies to her name this will be Wright's first Olympic Games..

"I am so excited about the future and am really looking forward to this amazing experience of competing at my first Olympic Games," she said after being named in the team.

Team GB's chef de mission Simon Clegg said that everybody within the team was delighted for Wright to make the side given here previous disappointments.

"I am delighted to welcome Claire into Team GB especially as she has been so close to making the team on two previous occasions and I wish her well in her final preparations for Beijing," he said.

British gymnastics performance director Matthew Greenwood agreed with Clegg's assessment that it was fitting that Wright is finally going to get to compete at a Games.

"We are delighted that Claire Wright will be representing Team GB in Beijing. Claire has been a consistently high performer at the elite world level for a number of years and her place within the Olympic family is richly deserved," he said.

"Claire has had an extremely successful trampoline career and has proudly competed at numerous major events, so it is fantastic that she can now make the final step up to compete as an Olympian."
