Coventry City have accepted a bid for striker Michael Mifsud from Bristol City.
The Maltese forward has been told he can leave the Sky Blues by manager Chris Coleman, and permission has been granted for him to open talks and undergo a medical with the Ashton Gate side with a view to moving there for an as yet undisclosed fee.
Coleman said: "I spoke with Michael this week and he feels it is time for him to move on."
The Coventry boss had previously revealed he had mixed feelings about letting the former Kaiserslauten striker leave when he said: "Michael scored 11 in the league and if we're going to improve, our strikers will have to score more than that. But he was our highest goalscorer.
"He's got 12 months left on his contract and we risk losing him for nothing if we don't let him go."
Mifsud rose to prominence last season when he scored both goals in the 2-0 Carling Cup win over Manchester United at Old Trafford that knocked the defending champions out of the competition.
He also scored a brace in the 4-1 FA Cup win at Blackburn Rovers later on that season.

well if micheal won't be a huge loss then we will see where coventry will end up next season( probably fighting in the relegation area ) good luck micheal you deserve a better team fighting for promotion to the premiership. make us maltese proud as always.
As a friend of michael i was proud of him in last season,when seeing how much he played for coventry i think he's above average. My advice is he should move to bristol ,we sure can see what he really can do with better backup
Well considering Mifsud was top scorer for his team and yet Mid below table Coventry believe he is average.....its good he is moving on at least with Bristol city ,There he have more chances to score high to get promotion to premier then wasting time with an unstable team fighting not to get relegated.............Coventry FC never learned their lesson well specially when they came up with the stupid idea of changing half of their team in mid season league! keep it up! Micheal last season gave his heart and yet again Coventry gives him the go ahead to leave, you'll regret losing yet again a great player.
@matt
Michael was the only positive note from all of Coventry's season. If Michael was average than the rest where well below average. Coleman is now betting on Eastwood and Morrison but tbh they still have to prove themselves and I very well doubt if they can deliver the goods themselves.
If Coventry really want to get back with the big boys they should rethink their startegy and keep their good players. Enough said.
Perhaps he was playing under the wrong management last season and for someone who was a hero in the FA CUP and still Coventry's top scorer last season in a below average always looking over thier shoulder all season type team,perhaps he may just silence hios critics playing for Bristol City up front with Lee Trundle and Meteb in the coming season... :P
Mifsud won't be a huge loss, 11 goals isn't a tally to be particularly proud of in the championship. If we get Morrison and Eastwood playing together we will have two strikers well capable of hitting the 20 goal mark.
My only regret is that we didn't sell him mid "flash in the pan" and get a few more quid for him, as that is all he was last season. An average striker that shone in a couple of high profile matches.
