The 24-year-old Dane took the $610,304 first prize after beating 2447 entries at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

It was a fourth WSOP cash for the former professional table tennis player from Copenhagen but his first bracelet.

He began the final table as chip leader and sent Danny Wong and Aaron Kanter packing in the space of nine hands to set up the heads-up against Cody Slaubaugh.

Slaubaugh, a 23-year-old online specialist from North Dakota, knew he had a massive task as he began the heads up with a 7:1 chip deficit.

But Slaubaugh doubled up on the first hand of heads-up before landing a big pot on a bluff and then went on to take the chip lead to quieten the racous Scandinavian contingent in the crowd.

However the Dane regained control after the dinner break, taking the chip lead after a further hour's play and completing the victory when his pocket queens held up against Slaubaugh's Ace, ten after both players went All-in pre-flop.

He said: "It's tough to express the feelings, right now the boys and me are going to have a big party and go celebrate this. This is what I came for."
