Barrichello now 'Mr Happy' after Nurburgring outburst

Thu, 23 Jul 20:06:05 2009

After slamming his Brawn colleagues in the wake of the recent German Grand Prix, Rubens Barrichello wore a 'Mr Happy' t-shirt to Thursday's team briefing at the Hungaroring.

The veteran Brazilian hit reverse gear in the hours after his Nurburgring outburst, having despaired at how he could finish just sixth after having led for the first stint of the race.

On the following Tuesday, he took a call from team boss Ross Brawn, and wrote on his Twitter page that he is now "over it".

"It was a nice conversation," Barrichello recalled. "He (Brawn) said he had heard things he didn't like, and that he had said things he shouldn't have as well.

"He told me we had a new update coming to this race and he wanted me to be perfectly straight to deliver my very best for this race," he added.

Barrichello also told reporters in Hungary that he emailed the entire Brackley-based team to clear the air and that the staff had "accepted it well".

"They know me. It was purely the frustration of getting out of the car and not finishing where I could have," he said.

  1. Resepct, respect please for a man who has been around F1 a very long time. Respect, respect for a man who has driven an F1 car 277 times at phenominal speeds. Respect, respect for a man who may have only won 9 races but has finished 2nd or thereabouts more times only because of F1 politics or team orders. Given free reign , who knows? Respect, respect for a man who keeps his own counsel and shows incredible restraint and respect for others of lesser integrity and ability in F1. Respect, respect for a man who rarely let's rip on or off circuit but just does the job he is paid for with incredible enthusiasm and skill. These men are prepared to die for our entertainment, that DEMANDS rather than deserves our respect. Respect Rubens...DON'T give up the day job, next season might just be the one!!!
