Dundee United have signed Argentinian striker Damien Casalinuovo following a successful trial spell.

The 22-year-old has signed a two-year contract at Tannadice after netting in friendly games against Arbroath and Irish side UCD.

The former Velez Sarsfield player will provide crucial cover up front after last season`s top scorer, Francisco Sandaza, underwent hernia surgery.

Sandaza may be out until the start of October, and with Jon Daly recuperating from a serious knee injury, Casalinuovo will provide competition for David Goodwillie and Danny Cadamarteri up front.
