Luiz Felipe Scolari cannot believe England fans jeer Frank Lampard - but insists the Chelsea midfielder is not affected by his own supporters turning on him.
Lampard is often booed by England fans and it was no different on Wednesday at Wembley when he was taken off during the lacklustre 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic.
After making Lampard central to his plans since arriving at Stamford Bridge, Scolari could not fathom the reaction.
"In England? In the national team? I don't believe it," he said.
"I don't believe this because Lampard tries to do the best job for the national team and for Chelsea.
"One time in Portugal when I lost a match against Spain people waved the white handkerchiefs. Afterwards they said they wanted me out.
"They booed me many times as Portugal manager, and players sometimes. What I try to do is give confidence to the player because people sometimes do not understand what is happening with the whole team.
"It's not one player that makes a team, it is 11. I think England have very good players and Lampard is one of these players."
After sharing a joke with his player, the Blues boss is certain the 30-year-old will brush off the taunts, and he is likely to feature on Saturday against Wigan at the JJB Stadium.
Scolari said: "I asked Frank today 'are you sad?' He said 'no'. I said 'I know why you are sad because now you renewed your contract and you have money, you have to think about how to spend it!' He laughed."
Scolari revealed he was under the impression Andriy Shevchenko was in Italy this week, although negotiations over a loan move to AC Milan appear to have broken down.
Shaun Wright-Phillips has also been linked with a move, to Portsmouth, and Scolari suggested the winger could depart if the board decided to sell.
"I don't know what the player (Wright-Phillips) is thinking about with regards (to) offers from other teams," said Scolari.
"If I have 24 to 25 players with me and three or four for two positions then I'm happy. I have three or four players in this wing-right and wing-left position.
"If the club sells one or two more players it's not a problem for me."

Mickeyboy so most the fans at wembley booing are man utd supporters !!!! you tit typical ignorant attitude from an idiot walking around blinkered. he gets booed because like most the other England footballers he never produces his club form for England in fact most of the over paid premadonnas who pull on a three lions top look like they cant even be arsed playin for England so do us a favour and stop comeing out with ya "lets worship frank chelsea drivel" about utd supporters , and makeing lampard some sort of God.
i also beleive that the england fans are not fans they are just people who go to a game ie, look i been to wembley and away from home cause hell booing lampard shows there lack of football knowlegde as he scored 20 goals from midfield and also plays nearly every game its the man united and fans from london that dont know shxxte from clay that cant understand why there carrick or hargreaves dont play because they are not good enough and as for gerrard yes he brilliant player in his right position but im afriad its taken by a better player lets cheer england not condem them
"Fat Frank", You must be a lunatic. don't blame you but ignorance is a crime. get enlightened my friend, this is the 21st century.
Another thing don't let fanaticism blind you
"Luiz Felipe Scolari cannot believe England fans jeer Frank Lampard". What Big Phil and Frank need to understand is that these people aren't England fans. They're a disgrace to the game. Real fans don't boo their own players. They're morons who bring their own supporting prejudices and ignorance to England games. I suspect a fair number of them are West Ham supporters who've waged war with Frank and not just since he joined Chelsea. They were at it when he was playing for the Hammers !!
the one who should have been booed was gerrard how many possable chances did he blow by shooting from impossable angles & too far out & what made it even worse was for him to try it against petr ceck no keepers perfect but how many times has he been beaten in the last 4/5 seasons from outside the box? i bet you could count the number of times thats happend on the fingers of one hand & still have some left over
I agree with you barrie, kala just the Man U fanatics that's why he can't understand football very much...loser~
kala, are you just another sad man utd fan who can't take it when one of your players doesn't get the nod because there is somebody better than him?
fatfrank is overated and @#$%...infact i'll go one further and say get rid of the entire england midfield...capello wants to play football....well how about carick for starters.....
