South African pace legend Allan Donald is to quit his role as Warwickshire's bowling coach next month.

Donald has tendered his resignation with the Bears, with whom he also played for many seasons, and will leave the county on September 17.

He has decided to move back home to his native country for family reasons.

Warwickshire director of cricket Ashley Giles said: "I haven't gone through what Allan has gone through this year but I have spent a lot of time away from the family over the years.

"I know the pressures of not being with your loved ones.

"It is disappointing to be losing Allan because his input has been great. But it has been a difficult time for him and I am sure he has made the righr decision."

Giles, who is also an England selector, is hoping to bring in a replacement for Donald before the New Year.

He said: "I have had a few thoughts about the situation because it has been a possibility for a while but we haven't made any approaches.

"We will see who is out there but I would like to have someone in by November or December."

  1. Donald will be missed by everyone associated with the bears. He was a fantastic player and has helped many players as coach,
But at home with his family is where he should be,
    Good Luck for the future
