Rea aiming for another podium
Jonathan Rea has scored more points than anyone in the last three World Superbike rounds - and the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda rider is determined to continue his podium run this weekend at Imola.
Rea has taken three wins and three second places from the last six races, for a total of 130 points.
That compares with 90 points for World Championship leader Max Biaggi over the same period, while the Italian's title rival Leon Haslam has scored only 69.
Rea starts Sunday's penultimate round third in the championship, 51 points behind Haslam.
“I’ve been enjoying myself on the Isle of Man since that good weekend in Germany, which made it six pretty good races in a row," said Rea, a winner of four races this season.
"I’d really like to carry on that podium run at Imola this weekend, although the races last year weren’t so good.
"But we worked on a new area of the bike during the Imola test in the summer - we really thought outside the box - and made some pretty good progress.
"We’ll start with something between that and the Nürburgring settings on Friday morning and work methodically from there, without getting carried away. Then, I hope, we’ll be there or thereabouts come Sunday morning.”

I reckon the quickest guy in WSB and had his bike been better from the beginning he would be leading the championship.
