Premier League - Drogba in clear over 'punch'

Didier Drogba will not face any action from the FA over comments in his autobiography saying he wished he had punched Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic in the Champions League final.

The Chelsea striker was sent off in the May final for slapping the Serb and in his book said he now wishes he had punched Vidic.

The FA studied the remark in the context of the book and have decided against taking action.

"I have seen the match on video and I believe I should not have been sent off with three minutes to go," Drogba wrote.

"If I had punched him, I would have understood. Now I wish I had."

The FA did not view those comments as being in the same vein as those made by Roy Keane, when the former United skipper said he had deliberately injured a rival player, Alf Inge Haaland.

In 2002 Keane was fined £150,000 and banned for five matches.

  8. I already said that they will find nothing. FA has a­ serious problem when they are working 'hard' to­ decide if a wish or a dream was worth punishing and­ leaving bigger problems unsolved. It is called Byzatine­ Debate. When Muslims were about to conquer the­ Byzantine empire, their parliament was debating if they­ should consider angels male or female. Obviousely they­ got no answr to that and they lost their empire..

  12. Drogba, I hate him? cheating,diving,conning every game,­ yet he is right on this occasion, I would have done the­ same but, I would not have slapped Vidic on the­ contrary he would have received a stunning headbut and­ a kick in the testicals.

    Far to much cheating in the­ Premier League and other Divisons and the so called­ pundits becry Referees for the smallest of wrong calls.
