Tottenham Hotspur defender Alan Hutton has again apologised to Stoke City keeper Thomas Sorensen for a challenge that caused a head wound.
Scotland international Hutton caught the Dane near the eye in the Potters' 2-1 win over Spurs.
Sorensen was replaced and the cut required 12 stitches, leading him to publicly criticise Hutton and claiming that he could "easily have avoided hitting" him.
The former Rangers defender has subsequently re-stated his apology to the former Sunderland and Aston Villa shot-stopper.
"At first I did not even think that I had caught him but I have seen the incident again," he told The Sun.
"What Sorensen has said leaves a wee bit of a sour taste in my mouth as it was unintentional.
"I never went out there to cut anybody and for someone to come out and say I did it on purpose is not nice.
"But that is Sorensen's opinion and there is nothing I can do about it."
Last season Hutton was the victim of a reckless challenge from Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole and he said that his own experiences mean he would never intentionally try to hurt a fellow player.
"I have been in that position myself and I would never go out to harm anybody," he added.
"It's harsh for him to say I did because I have said sorry and I totally mean that.
"I wouldn't put the blame on anybody for the tackles on me because football is a contact sport and these things happen, but I would like to say sorry again."

What tosh, Hutton could easilly have avoided Sorrensen, watch the replay, he makes no attempt to pull out and watches Sorrensen right onto his foot. Still, Sonko is definately a moron, but the cut looked like a stud injury, I think Sonko just gave him a concussion!
Nah if he knew he was gonna catch him then there's nothing to apologise for.He just has to hope that he forgives him
Incidents like this, that cause awful injuries, have always been part of the game. They happen in an instant, especially considering the pace of the modern game. But it takes a big man and a true professional to come out and publicly apologise for something he may (or may not) have done. Football fans all over the country, regardless of their club, should be proud of a player with the guts to say the 'S' word.
Yea, commendable behavior, Hutton.
looks like it could have been either of them hutton with studs must admit though sorenson took a big blow off sonko
Watchin this again im sure its Sonko who catches him with his knee afterwards not hutton!!!!!
Thanks for the apology Mr Hutton takes a man sometimes to admit that he was in the wrong. As for zzzeclipse i think you will be doing the crying by the end of the season enough said great win by a far better side up the potters.
im not a fan of either team but well done, ur a great credit 2 ur club and 2 football. only wish there was more players like u .
clearly hutton did not try to hurt him, they were both going for the ball.... sonko ran in there like a moron and started pushing hutton. There was barely any contact from Hutton, I agree with post #2, it is more likely that sonko hit sorensen and gave him the cut..... enough said about that, spurs screwed themselves yet again in that game. 2 reds cards, 1 man down for 80 minutes.... what can ya do
Couldn't agree more. From what I saw of the replay the damage was caused by the closing in Stoke defender's knee (Sonko ??), not any part of Hutton. Perhaps Sorensen should also watch the replay.
respect to hutton.. a great player. if an apology is what sorensen needs to stop him from crying.
