SPL - Mendes out for two months

Rangers midfielder Pedro Mendes will be out of action for up to two months after injuring his knee in the Champions League defeat to Unirea Urziceni.

Gers manager Walter Smith confirmed the prognosis after the Portuguese international underwent scans on Wednesday.

Smith said the vital player will be sidelined for at least six weeks and could possibly be out for two months.

Rangers top the SPL after eight matches, a point ahead of Glasgow rivals Celtic and two from third-placed Hibernian.
