Hull manager Phil Brown believes the returning Jimmy Bullard will breathe new life into his team's season.
Bullard, Hull's record signing, is poised to make his first start for the club in Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash against Portsmouth at the KC Stadium. The £5million midfielder, 31, made his long-awaited return to action following knee surgery when he came off the bench in Monday's loss at Fulham.
Brown said: "You'd love to manage him - he's perfect, he's a dreamer. He wants to be the best player on the field of play every day."
He added: "It would energise anybody, not just the manager. If I was a player it would energise me because his enthusiasm is faultless.
"It's fantastic, he's always got a smile on his face. There is a natural enthusiasm where Jimmy is concerned that will stand football in good stead and hopefully Hull City in the near future."
Bullard, who also came through a 60-minute run-out for the reserves at Wigan on Tuesday, proved his inspirational qualities in Fulham's escape from relegation in 2008.
His potential return for Hull is timely with the Tigers 18th in the competition after collecting just seven points from nine games.
The visit of bottom side Portsmouth, who have lost eight from nine, is crucial for both sides but Brown is keen not to over-emphasise its importance.
He said: "People talk about must wins, but I don't think it is a must win.
"You want to go into every game wanting to win. Ten points from 10 games would be a half decent return and we'd go back to the drawing board for the second phase of the season."

I,ve no idea who you are Get Rid of the Lords but you talk some sense and leave me with little to say as you usually cover most things but i think Brown is relying on Bullard a little too much he needs to sort the wood from the chaff and do half the squad with breach of contract and get some honest footballers in it's not so bad loosing when you know all the team have tried but that lot against Fulham well they where lucky that Fulham are @#$% in front of goal it could have been double figure's i'll bring my boots along i may get a game but the leather boots wouldn't pass health and safety with todays softies
The return of Jimmy Bullard will ofcourse help if he remains fit (which is unlikely) but City have one or two fundamental problems e.g defence, midfield and attack.
Not much to sort out then? You could go on and o0n forever but her are the obvious difficulties.
Sonko is simply not good enough and will leak even more goals, Myhill makes very flash saves but is clueless about other crucial areas of goalkeeping, Dawson is solid and works hard along with McShane who is still finding his feet but gives it his all. Gardner is never there long enough to make a judgement but that doesn't seem to bother him( no pride)
Barmby is still a quality player but doesn't seem to get into the sided even when he is the skipper i.e injured or out of favour. Marney runs around like a headless chicken trying to catch the ball up.The new guy Jan Vennygoor of Hessleroad doesn't move to receive the ball and not sure if he's had his day. No one else seems to be able to score a goal to save their life so that leaves poor Geo running around like a blue a rsed fly with no one to pass to.
We only have to hope that three other teams are worse than us at the end of the season.
Having watched City in the old days of the old 4th Division you can't really complain(though it won't stop me)
God love em. Come on you ULLLLLLLLLLLLL
