Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has refused to rule out Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey returning to the club.

Heskey, who netted 16 goals in 82 Premier League appearances for the Latics, is struggling to ensure his World Cup place having started just one top-flight game this season.

But Martinez said: "Speaking about players now is foolish. There's nothing you can do until January.

"Emile is a well-known player here and anyone would love to have him on their books but we will never be disrespectful to Aston Villa."
