The Blues trailed the Brazil winger (pictured kneeling) throughout the summer before City nipped in with a late bid on transfer deadline day to seal his signing from Real Madrid for £32 million.

"I am sure that Robinho would be the best player in the world if he came to play at Chelsea," he told Brazilian daily O Globo.

"The Chelsea doors are always open to him."

Attacking midfielder Robinho, who has made 11 Premier League starts for City and hit eight goals, scored a stunning scooped finish in City's 3-0 win over Arsenal on Saturday.

Chelsea were held 0-0 at home by Newcastle.

Man City have meanwhile been linked in the media with a £60m swoop for Chelsea captain John Terry, as well as a cut-price £1m deal for Toon striker Michael Owen, who is out of contract in the summer.

  1. Johnlow_86 I think Kaka is a great player but Pato is just a publicity article. He is no better than players like Walcott, Lennon and the young english players that you watch in the Primier League. May be in future he may stand a chance to out play them but until then, I´ll be posted right here on the street rain, hail , snow.

  2. Are you on drugs Nathan???? Best form for 2 years.... weren't they top after 10 games under Sven last season? They'll be very lucky to make the top 6 this season!

  3. Liverpool are playing well at the moment , but if they get into the semi finals of either the champions league or the fa cup they will drop away in the premier league . As good as a team as they are they can't compete on three fronts and it seems to be it the premier league that they lose out on . I think that it'll be United and Chelsea again this season , with City beginning to compete more next year , however it'll take them at least a couple of season's to get everything in place to maybe win the league

  5. Mark, what do u say? Are you watching different version of premier league? Drogba! ask, Sir Alex Fergie, how his heart thump when Drogba is on field against his team. U forget how he single handedly finish Arsenal last season. Open ur eye.

as a man united fan i remember b4 fergusons dynasty that united had a team of expensive or highly rated individuals who didnt do much if captain marvel didnt play
teambuilding and good stewardship is as important as the money the money if used correctly is the edge and makes the difference
whilst i respect mark hughes and his ambition i would have thought the moneybags arab city would have picked a manager that had actually won something
i'm sure sven could have done a bit if hed had the facility to bring in some consistent quality players
robinho will be gone within a year when the novelty wears off and he realises he could easily get the chance to play in the champions league which frankly if he waited for the chance at city i think his career would be almost over!!!
john terry indeed dont make me laugh maybe when hes 37 yes!!

  8. What credit crunch? City's owners haven't said they will be cutting back on the pot MH has to utilise in January, on the contrary, it's bottomless.
I personally think that Chelsea no longer have the lure and pull of cash that they had and the chances of now prying Robinho out are slim. In fact the foot is on the other hand, City could rip the heart out of Chelsea with offers for Terry and Bridges (we are desperate for a decent left back..and Bridges fits the bill nicely).

Robinho made a mistake at first to join city, all the same money has become a great force here , no doubt chelsea can offer him anything atleast within the reasonable limit, not that we can do without him, but he could come in as a spice to the team.

My take, Luiz Felipe Scolari should not show desperation as robinho is driven by money now, there will be a time he will beg to play for us.....

    Chelsea rules............

  11. art_tidesco who are you kidding? Chelsea may finish 2nd behind Utd but the hub cap thieves have no chance. You have to be the best team in the league to win it and Liverpool are only there by picking up a lot of lucky points. Watch them fall away over the Christmas period, luck will desert them soon and they don't have the ability to sustain a serious challenge. Top 4 certs all the same. Looks like Villa might replace Arsenal.

  12. John Terry will leave Chelsea?? I hope that day no coming soon.. Hope Scolari think properly.. Robinho will come Chelsea?? The only reason Robinho will join Chelsea is Chelsea can offer more higher salary from Man.City.. How about Chelsea finances?? Why dont sign other better player like Kaka,Pato,etc..

  13. You Chelsea fans are failing to remember before Abramovich's money you were a second rate club in Arsenal's and Tottenham's shadow, buying second rate players (e.g. Craig Burley, Gavin Peacock, Frank Sinclair etc etc...). So I find it disappointing that some of you are dismissing the possibility of City enticing high profile players! Money talks and you Chelsea fans more than anyone else should know this!

  14. There is little doubt that the credit crunch will hit football but this is not the reason Chelsea have curbed their spending. Roman's plan was always to inject big money at the onset, not only in transfers but also investment in the accademy. The aim was always to make the club self-sufficient and eventually repay it's debt to the owner. That is why Chelsea wouldn't pay the money for Alves but signed Boularouz instead. They also wouldn't pay enough for Robinho. But don't be fooled, if the right came up Roman still ain't short of a few quid. And City.... forget all about JT, he's 'Chelsea till I die'.

  15. Terry will never leave Chelsea. Owen for £1m?. Would he fit in at City. Robinho didn't know there were two clubs in Manchester. I reckon if Chelsea came in with a bid he'd be off. Ultimately no matter how much money the arabs pump in City will always be City. If anything there can go wrong ..... it will!

  17. Scolari knows he's got limited finances. Who would Chelsea want anyway?

Offloading John Terry? John would rather get relegated than leave Chelsea. His team-mates and coach feel the same way.

Scolari has learned things about the Premiership well. When Ferguson tried to play the mind games, Scolari 'opened the door' for Cristiano Ronaldo, and that sure shut the Scot up!

Robinho will want trophies soon, and he'll leave City himself. Aston Villa and Everton are more likely to make the top four than City are. City have money, but if the players they target don't want to leave their clubs (or their clubs don't want to let them go), all that money is wasted.

  18. robinho will be better staying with man city; they are developing side and he can be the key figure of the team. If he joins chelsea he will be fighting for his place and dominance on the pitch. scolari talks too much; he has opened his door to ronaldo and robinho; when will his door shut.

  20. What @#$% about the credit crunch DUH! -Abu Dhabi and Abramovich both get rich from OIL -it tripled and went back to its normal level. So huge winfall and now back to mega-wealth. £60 million is a joke to the likes of Abramovich -pocket money. Don't judge his wealth by your standards -you can't.
