The club's record signing has yet to establish himself at White Hart Lane, starting just seven Premier League games since his summer move from Charlton Athletic.

He has been linked with a January switch to West Ham United, where he would be reunited with former Charlton boss Alan Curbishley.

But Spurs' sporting director Comolli is adamant that the England international is viewed as a long-term investment by the club.

"Darren is not a six-month project," said Comolli in the Mail on Sunday.

"He is on a long-term contract.

"As far as we're concerned he'll be here for a long time."

Prior to Saturday's North London derby at Arsenal, Bent revealed he harboured no regrets about his move, despite being the back-up to Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane.
