Wilder, 41, was working as assistant manager at the League Two side.

He has been given the job of taking Blue Square Premier side Oxford back into the Football League.

Darren Patterson was sacked by Oxford in November and director Jim Smith had been in charge on a caretaker basis.

Following a 1-1 draw at home to Stevenage, the U's are now 13th and 11 points off the play-off places.
