Premier League - Giggs set for United talks

Fri, 23 Dec 19:12:00 2011

Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs will shortly sit down with manager Sir Alex Ferguson to discuss his plans for the future.

Manchester United's Ryan Giggs (C) celebrates with team mates after scoring a goal during their English Premier League soccer match against Fulham at Craven Cottage - 0

Giggs, who has spent his entire career at United, is presently halfway through the latest in a succession of one-year contracts that have become the norm for the Welshman since he entered his thirties.

Giggs told the club's official website: "It's almost that time when I'll sit down with the manager and see what his plans are [for the future] and I'll see how I'm feeling. At the moment I feel really good and I'm enjoying things more than ever, so we'll just have to wait and see."

Little could anyone have imagined that, at the age of 38, Giggs would still be producing performances of the high standard he delivered at Fulham in midweek.

Sir Alex Ferguson described the contribution from Giggs to United's 5-0 win as "incredible", and it also featured the midfielder's first Premier League goal of the season.

That extended his unique record of scoring in every campaign since the new competition began in 1992.

This is the way to go with regards to veteran players. Keep them at the club, not just merely sign them for a quick fix.

  3. Giggs is one of those players who defines football. We may have thousands of players but only a few will define football in great detail, and one of those players is Ryan Giggs. In the words of Jose Mourinho when he was asked about Pele, he said, "He's football" I think he meant Pele defined football in great detail. So is what Giggs has been doing for over two decades, the man's a legend! I'm a Man City fan by the way

  8. He's a living legend and whilst it's easy to critisise him from the sofa, he still earns his place in the United team and is an amazing talent who is still delivering the goods. I still love watching him play and he'll be missed when he's gone, so I hope there are a few seasons left in him yet!!
