Mixu Paatelainen says Hibs have already banished the memory of the derby defeat as they seek to kick-start their bid to finish in the top six.Former Finland striker Paatelainen, who succeeded John Collins earlier this month, suffered a setback in his first league match in charge last Saturday when Hibernian lost 1-0 to Hearts at Tynecastle.
Lithuanian striker Andrius Velicka was the Hearts hero with the winner, but Hibernian goalkeeper Yves Ma-Kalambay was at fault after fumbling the ball over the line.
Paatelainen's tenure got off to the perfect start with a Dean Shiels-inspired 3-0 Scottish Cup victory over Inverness, but the loss in Gorgie extended Hibernian's woeful league run.
The eighth-placed club have not tasted victory in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League since a 1-0 success at Gretna on November 10.
But Paatelainen is convinced they can respond with a home victory over bottom-placed Gretna on Saturday.
He said: "Sore hearts is a big injury, it hits you every day. But we're over that derby now, no problem.
"We've looked at it, gone through the match, the mistakes. Whatever we didn't do last Saturday we've learnt from it. The players know what to do better and hopefully they'll learn.
"They are all professional players and realise that Saturday is one to look forward to and not make the same mistakes again.
"It happens in sport, all the time. Even though you might cover stuff in training sessions and make sure that you try to do that, it doesn't always happen. It's frustrating at times but we learn.
"Obviously, we approach every game to win it and derby matches are special occasions, but we don't want to dwell too much on last Saturday.
"I'd rather look forward to this Saturday and Gretna. Hopefully the boys are feeling confident and ready."
Gretna are nine points adrift at the foot, but have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks and deservedly defeated Falkirk 2-0 last Saturday.
Paatelainen refuses to take the Borderers lightly and added: "Donald (Park) and I saw Gretna against Rangers a week ago (on January 16) and I heard they played really well against Celtic a few weeks ago.
"Their confidence is high, even though they're at the bottom of the table.
"Short-term results and form shows that they are a good team and have good players in their ranks."
