Berger pips Brunet to gold

Norway's Tora Berger beat France's Marie Laure Brunet in a photo finish to win the women's 12.5km mass start gold in Antholz-Anterselva.
Berger overtook Brunet on the penultimate lap on her way to clocking a time of 33 minutes 56.3 seconds over the Italian course, leaving the Norwegian just 0.6 seconds ahead of the Frenchwoman.
Darya Domracheva of Belarus finished a comfortable third, five seconds behind Brunet but over 10 seconds clear of the rest of the field.
German biathlon legend Magdalena Neuner finished sixth, 35.1 seconds behind Berger.
Michael Greis anchored Germany to victory in the men’s 4x7.5km relay in Antholz-Anterselva.
†Italy's men came in second after recovering from a weak start to lead the race half-way through the penultimate leg, but succumbed to a strong finish by Germany.
†The German quartet -- Christoph Stephan, Daniel Bohm, Arnd Peiffer and three-time Olympic gold medallist Greis -- combined to clock one hour 10 minutes 17.2 seconds, finishing 18.6 seconds ahead of the hosts.
†Olympic champions Norway - who had six-time Olympic gold medallist Ole Einar Bjoerndalen in their ranks - had to settle for third, crossing the line 28.2 seconds after Germany.
