Premier League - Norwich complete Howson deal

Tue, 24 Jan 15:40:00 2012

Norwich have confirmed the signing of Leeds United midfielder Jonny Howson on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

Howson has been sidelined with a knee injury since the start of December but the Canaries said that he had passed a 'stringent' medical before the deal was wrapped up.

Lambert sees Howson, for whom Norwich have agreed a reported £2 million fee, as the perfect addition to bring a midfield goalscoring threat to his team who have surprised many by establishing a place in the top half of the Barclays Premier League table this season.

Lambert said: "He's been brilliant for Leeds and we need a goalscoring midfielder. If everything goes well he'll be great for us. His rehab is going very well and he is not far away (from playing)."

  1. Im not sure Dave, i think Norwich will be another Stoke, not in the way they play football, but because both teams chairmen/woman are massive fans of each club and put their own money into the team, and both have managers who are very focused, play to their teams strengths, and add players who can take them forward. and not just survive in the EPL. Stoke have established themselves by making steady progress each season and not breaking the bank, and i see Norwich doing the same.
If any of you Norwich fans dont aggree then tell me otherwise because i honestly think they will be ok.

  2. I dont think the answer to this is to difficult, Howson looked at his team mates, manager, chairman and the overall set up and decided that in his opinion Leeds Utd for the foreseable future is going no where.
All the answers are there to see in the Club Captains actions.
Has he made a mistake? too right he has - he took the first option to play in the EPL.
Mark my words Norwich will be the next Wigan, Reading, Blackpool clubs who enjopy a year or 2 but just cannot sustain the investment needed to stay there.
Without doubt Leeds Utd could survive and survive quite comfortably - so to conclude
Leeds Utd will not progress under the current management set up and Norwich to quickly disapear from the EPL, BUT THEN WE ALL KNEW THAT ANYWAT DIDNT WE?

  4. What is happening with Leeds- I am a big fan of Leeds- but I feel S.G. needs to go now, selling our captain and others, he says he has ambition but what is he doing? I think he as done as much as he can now so lets get a manager who wants Leeds to be one of the top sides in Premier. We are losing faith we need hope again. S.G. got Blackpool to championship but even they had to get rid for them to progress. To all the faithful fans of LEEDS UTD.

  5. i just hope you can get into the side and keep free of injuries howson, not sure that a small club like Norwich can survive in EPL yes making an impact first year up, but when the pressure of pushing up the table comes around next season we will see what they are made of, Wigan had same ambition and will go down this season.Leeds utd till the day i die. 6. So long Jonny thanks for everything. my favourite memory was you coming off the bench and scoring the equaliser against Bristol when we went up from League 1.
When you look at Leeds and Norwich and you consider where we both are right now, its no wonder that Leeds fans are asking questions about Ken Bates tenure as Chairman. Norwich in all due respect didnt quite match the numbers through the turnstiles when they were in the championship compared to Leeds, and do have some debt. Yet their board backed their manager by bringing in players of the calibre capable of getting them promotion to the big time without spending stupid sums of money.
The difference now is like night and day, Leeds look rudderless and although we are only just outside the playoffs if we went up there would need to be a major overhaul of our squad. Norwich with Paul Lambert at the helm are taking the premiership by storm and i really really hope they manage to stay up this season just to show other clubs in the championship how it should be done.
You Norwich fans have signed an excellent player who will go onto represent his country at full international level in the not too distant future. So long Jonny, you will always be Leeds at heart.

Keep OFF his back, premier survival is the ticket and what a job he's doing against these self rightous elite. wouldnt last two minutes without the dollars. 15. Why is it undisclosed? - because thats another large amount of money straight into Bates' pocket.
Leeds won't be buying anyone with it just more loanees, he is just draining us dry while we sink back through the leagues
