Doncaster have received a potential injury boost with the news James Coppinger may not need an operation on his fractured cheekbone.
Coppinger sustained the injury in a challenge with Bristol City winger Yannick Bolasie during the early stages of Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Ashton Gate.
It was initially feared the 31-year-old could miss the remainder of the season but after visiting a specialist on Tuesday it was revealed he could be back in six weeks.
"The news is a little bit better but Jamie will still be out for quite some time," manager Dean Saunders told the club's official website.
Coppinger will be examined once more on Monday, when the club will receive a more detailed prognosis on how long he can expect to spend on the sidelines.
Saunders added: "We won't know until then whether surgery is required but, at the moment, we could have him back before the end of the season."
