Maguire set for Rams exit

Derby manager Nigel Clough has revealed that Chris Maguire could be set for a loan spell away from Pride Park, with clubs in England and Scotland tracking the striker.

Maguire has made just eight appearances, starting on three occasions, since joining the Rams from SPL club Aberdeen in the summer.

He has not featured for the first team since the home defeat by Hull on November 19 and is finding it difficult to break into what is a settled match-day squad.

Clough feels a loan spell would give the 23-year-old the opportunity to get some much-needed games under his belt.

"That might be the best thing for Chris in the second half of the season. He is getting frustrated because he has been used to playing pretty much all the time in the last two or three seasons, so it is difficult when that happens and you are not involved week in, week out," Clough told the Derby Telegraph. "But anybody who has been outside the 16 or 18 in the last six weeks is going to find it difficult to break into the squad because we have lost only one of our last eight games.

"We have had inquiries from a couple of clubs in Scotland and a couple in England as well."

  1. Agree about the wage bill Terry but thats part of Derby's the ambition not to find themselves in the same perilous state as Forest. As for going nowhere, at least we are moving UP the table as opposed to potentially FALLING of it. But as you say any Forest fan at present would prefer the former, as would any true Derby supporter.
No one wants to see Forest back in D1

  5. Shame looked like a good buy at the time. Hopefully he can go away and prove he has a place at Derby - not sure from what is NC saying whether he want's him away for good or just on loan. Always thought, like NC, he looked the part. At least Derby in a position to tkae time over the situation. Makes a change from times gone by, we now seem to know where we ar going and what road to take.
