Sun 24 Feb, 03:15 PM

Brighton manager Dean Wilkins hailed Glenn Murray after the striker scored for the fourth time in five matches in the 1-0 defeat of Oldham.Murray, Brighton's most expensive signing for 25 years at £300,000 from Rochdale, boosted Albion's outside play-off hopes with the only goal after 61 minutes to earn the praise of his manager.

"Glenn was absolute class. I noted the way he used his body and his little touches at times," said Wilkins. "He showed real quality and he looks as though he is starting to settle in really well."

Murray slotted the ball home from a tight angle after defender Matt Richards had set him up with a surging run through the middle.

"Wilkins felt it was a 'quality goal' and the move summed up the way he wants his side to play.

He added: "We want to produce attractive football, but when it comes to a match day the pressure is on for us to reproduce what we have done throughout the week."
