Brentford manager Andy Scott saw his team lose their unbeaten record in 2008 but dismissed the result as a "blip" against Chesterfield.On-loan Sunderland striker David Dowson scored the only goal of a tight game with his first touch but the Bees also had other worries after skipper Matt Heywood was injured in the second half.
"It looks as if Matt may have broken a rib," said Scott. "If that's the case it will be a massive blow for us. We've got a game on Tuesday night but we could be struggling with three important players doubtful."
"We made some poor decisions in the second half and didn't get the ball into the box enough. We didn't get hold of the ball up front and we didn't defend well enough which left the midfield with too much to cover.
"I've said to the players that we've had a blip. You don't go from struggling near the bottom of the league and low on confidence to a team that has a right to be in the play-offs.
"We've got to learn from this and take it on the chin. Now we have to lick our wounds and get on with it."
