Bayern Munich were held at home to Hamburg but stay four points clear of second-placed Werder Bremen at the top of the Bundesliga.
Ze Roberto equalised for Bayern six minutes after a mistake from Brazil defender Lucio handed Ivica Olic and Hamburg the opener on the hour.
Dutch midfielder Mark van Bommel was sent off for the league leaders deep into injury-time, picking up two yellow cards in quick succession for arguing with the referee.
Bayern were helped by Werder Bremen's surprise defeat at Frankfurt on the previous Saturday.
Hamburg stay fourth after the draw, behind Leverkusen on goal difference.
In the other match on Sunday, Nuremberg also drew 1-1 with Energie Cottbus.
